It’s just been announced by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Promotions, that the newly signed – Hughie Fury – will be taking on Alexander Povetkin on the undercard of the Lomachenko Vs. Campbell lightweight unification fight on August 31st!
In today’s press conference, Eddie Hearn said that he expected Hughie Fury to have a “welcoming fight” in his first contest under the Matchroom Boxing banner, however, Hughie and his team had other ideas and wanted to jump straight in to a big fight.
Hughie, the cousin of “The Gypsy King” Tyson Fury, has already fought a few big names in his career – including Joseph Parker and Kubrat Pulev. However, Povetkin is a different challenge and a different fighter altogether; so it will be interesting to see if their styles gel or not at the O2 arena, come August 31st.
